A seminar for young staff in the judiciary was organized

The Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CEDEM) is supported by the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the US Embassy in Podgorica from 20-22. October, 2014 organized a seminar in Bečići for young people in the judiciary called the European Convention on Human Rights and Criminal Procedure.

This seminar is part of a multi-year project developed in cooperation with the Center for Human Rights of the Faculty of Law in Podgorica, with the aim of providing trainees and professional associates in courts, prosecutors’ offices and law firms, as well as law students, with additional knowledge and information on national legislation. and the standards of the European Convention on Human Rights. This year’s training focused on criminal procedure and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights when it comes to the right to liberty and security of person. Special attention was paid to practical, interactive work with the aim of about 30 participants in the training to acquire applicable and practical knowledge in this field. The seminar was opened by Mr. Nenad Koprivica, Executive Director of CEDEM and Ms. Sanija Šljivančanin from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, while the lecturers were: Mr. Zoran Pažin, Representative of Montenegro before the European Court of Human Rights; Mr. Eric Larson, Permanent Legal Counsel at the US Embassy, ​​Podgorica; Mr. Veljko Rutović, Senior State Prosecutor; Mr. Zoran Radović, President of the Basic Court in Podgorica and Mr. Siniša Bjeković, Member of the Government Working Group for Negotiations under Chapter 24.
