Open competition for the position of Legal Analyst / Trial Monitor

The Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CEDEM) is announcing a competition for the position of Legal Analyst / Trial Monitor, which will be open until November 4, 2017.

Description:

Identification of cases, selection and monitoring of the course of cases, including regular reviews of court registers and other sources of information on the case;

Monitoring cases, including attending hearings, reviewing files and gathering other information as needed;

Reviewing program reference materials, attending scheduled trainings and engaging in other capacity building activities;

Monitoring trials whose cases are related to corruption, organized crime, freedom of expression, terrorism, defamation, damages, as well as politically sensitive cases;

Evaluating the success of the implementation of legal mechanisms such as plea agreements, deferred prosecution and other new legal instruments;

Conducting interviews with relevant entities (judges, prosecutors, lawyers and other participants in the proceedings);

Conducting thematic research to provide an objective picture of the functioning, integrity, length of proceedings and the exercise of the right to a fair trial;

Requirements:

Graduated from the Faculty of Law;

Excellent knowledge of international and national laws related to the type of case to be observed;

Willingness to work in the field;

Developed analytical skills;

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);

Previous practical experience desirable.
