A seminar for young staff in the judiciary was organized

The Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CEDEM) is supported by the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the US Embassy in Podgorica in the period 17/19. February, 2015 organized a seminar in Bečići for young people in the judiciary called the European Convention on Human Rights and Criminal Procedure.

This seminar is part of a multi-year project developed in cooperation with the Center for Human Rights of the Faculty of Law in Podgorica, with the aim of providing additional knowledge and information on the application of national legislation to trainees and professional associates in courts, prosecutors’ offices and law firms. and the standards of the European Convention on Human Rights. This year’s training focused on criminal procedure and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights when it comes to the right to a fair trial. Special attention was paid to practical, interactive work with the aim of about 30 participants in the training to acquire applicable and practical knowledge in this field. The seminar was opened by Mr. Nenad Koprivica, Executive Director of CEDEM, Norbert Beckmann-Dierkes from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and Mr. Eric Larson, Permanent Legal Counsel at the US Embassy, ​​while the lecturers were: Mr. Zoran Pažin, Representative of Montenegro Up before the European Court of Human Rights; Ms. Svetlana Rajković, Director General of the Directorate for International Legal Cooperation and European Integration, Ministry of Justice; Mr. Veljko Rutović, Deputy Senior State Prosecutor; Mr. Zoran Radović, President of the Basic Court in Podgorica; doc.dr Miloš Vukčević, Director General of the Directorate for Security Protection and Supervision, Ministry of the Interior and doc. Dr. Vesna Ratković, professor at the Faculty of Law, University of the Mediterranean.
