ANNOUNCEMENT: Training for teachers in the field of media literacy

The Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CEDEM) is organizing the training “Media and Reconstruction of Media Text”, which will be held on February 21 and 22, 2019 in Žabljak. The training is intended for teachers of primary education, civic education, as well as native and foreign languages ​​from primary schools in all municipalities of Montenegro (one teacher from one municipality can attend).

The goal of the project “Encourage media education in schools” is to develop the competencies of teachers for media education of students and develop a critical attitude towards media content in print, electronic and digital media and encourage the improvement of extracurricular activities. Through this project, teachers will improve professional knowledge and competencies, as well as the development of extracurricular activities and motivation of students through the acquisition of specific skills and knowledge needed in the classroom, as well as for extracurricular activities.

Improving student sections, supporting student talent, developing extracurricular activities, as well as increasing digital literacy have been recognized as key needs of teachers and students in order to develop the above. After completing the training, teachers are required to conduct at least one workshop on media literacy for school students.

The lecturers at the training are Božena Jelušić, a professor of Montenegrin language and literature, and Dragoljub Duško Vuković, an independent media expert.
