Strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations to participate in the UPR process

The overall goal of the project is to contribute to the affirmation of the UPR (Universal Periodic Review of the Situation of Human Rights in UN Member States) process and greater respect for human rights and freedoms in Montenegro. The specific objectives of the project are: 1) Strengthened capacities of civil society for participation in the UPR process; 2) Improved influence of civil society on public policies in the field of human rights through the UPR process.

Key project activities include forming a coalition of civil society organizations and strengthening their capacity to participate in the UPR process; preparation of alternative reports and recommendations for improving the human rights situation and a media campaign to raise awareness of the UPR process in Montenegro. The project was supported by the Balkan Democracy Fund for 10 months.
