Youth in the process of security sector reform in Montenegro

In Montenegro, there is no systematic education of young people about the security sector, competencies and the way of functioning of security services, as well as the key challenges that these services face in the process of reforms in this sector covered by EU and NATO integration. This social group is not adequately involved in the process of creating public policies and monitoring their implementation.

Therefore, this project aims to raise awareness, understanding and information of young citizens about the security sector, competencies and work of security services as well as the key challenges and threats that these services face.

This project is especially aimed at: 1) students; 2) trainees and junior officials employed in state institutions (with special emphasis on the Police Directorate, the Army of Montenegro, the Ministry of Defense, members of parliament); 3) young leaders of political parties in Montenegro; and 4) young civil society actors. The end users of this project are all citizens of Montenegro.

The main activities of the project are: selection of training participants, organization and implementation of school programs, preparation and promotion of the Youth Platform, organization of visits of participants to key security services and preparation of the Guide through security services. Project activities will be implemented in Podgorica and Ulcinj.

The project is being implemented with the support of the Commission for the Distribution of Revenues from Games of Chance.
