Local Development Projects (LDMI)

The concept of local development projects was developed with the aim of encouraging sustainable social integration of Roma and Egyptians at the local level. These are projects that are directly aimed at improving the living conditions of Roma and Egyptians in local communities, but also at developing local partnerships between municipalities, the Roma community and the civil sector.
In addition, local development projects should contribute to strengthening the capacity of local actors to attract more EU funds, as well as better linking the mechanisms of the National Roma Decade and local action plans for Roma and Egyptian inclusion with available EU funds. Local development projects will include the reconstruction of the water supply network in the Roma settlements of Brlja in Niksic and Donji Talum in Berane, as well as a local study on the housing conditions of the Roma and Egyptian communities in Herceg Novi, and the provision of free legal aid to local Roma. and the legalization of informal facilities. The projects are being implemented in partnership between CEDEM and the municipalities of Nikšić, Berane and Herceg Novi, in cooperation with local Roma partners. The projects are financially supported by the Open Society Foundations in Budapest, through the MtM Program (Making the Most of EU Funds for Roma).
