Three-day seminar “Everyone for the Prohibition of Discrimination against PWDs”
The Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CEDEM) conducted a three-day seminar entitled “All for the Prohibition of Discrimination against PWDs” aimed at bringing together relevant participants, media representatives, NGOs, the Directorate for Inspection Affairs, ministries, and Centers for Social Work to discuss the challenges, achievements, obstacles, but also future perspectives of protection from discrimination against persons with disabilities (PWDs). The seminar was realized within the project “Together for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities”, which was supported by the Ministry of Justice, Human and Minority Rights.
The three-day seminar was held from 9th to 11th of June, 2021 at the Bianca Hotel in Kolašin. The expert moderators were: Nerma Dobardžić – Deputy Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms, Dunja Samardžić – Coach in the field of accessibility and Marina Vujačić – Executive Director of AYDM (Association of Youth with Disabilities of Montenegro). The seminar was also attended by Aleksandra Popović, Acting Director General of the Directorate for the Protection and Equality of Persons with Disabilities.
In addition, the three-day seminar screened a promotional film about theatrical interactive workshops and PWD rights, which were realized in high schools in Kolašin, Bijelo Polje and Mojkovac, in cooperation with ATAK. The participants also got acquainted with a publications entitled “Guide through the Article 14 of the European Convention on Human Rights with Special Reference to Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities” and “Guidelines for Media Reporting on Persons with Disabilities in Montenegro”. The promotional film and publications are products of a previous project by CEDEM entitled “Multisectoral Approach to the Protection of the Rights and Fundamental Freedoms of Persons with Disabilities”, which was supported by the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights (2019-2020).
