Comparative study on the degree of integration of the new EU member states published

As part of the PASOS project, Enlargement and Citizenship – Looking to the Future, the Public Policy Center PROVIDUS, Latvia (author Iveta Kažoka, analyst) prepared a Comparative Study on the degree of integration of new member states in the decision-making process at EU level.

The study includes key findings of groups of citizens organized in 6 countries – four new member states (Poland, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Latvia) and two candidate countries – Montenegro and Serbia; 2013 and 2014 Eurobarometer results; the results of a public opinion poll conducted in the new member states in September 2013 and 2014, as well as the conclusions and recommendations contained in national studies on the degree of state involvement in the EU integration process. The aim of the Comparative Study is to assess the degree of integration of citizens and state institutions of the so-called countries. “Eastern Enlargement” in the EU-level decision-making process. CEDEM is implementing the project as one of the partner organizations, together with the Institute of Public Affairs from Poland, the Center for Public Policy PROVIDUS from Latvia, the European Institute from Bulgaria and the Center for Euro-Atlantic Studies from Belgrade. PASOS from the Czech Republic is the main coordinator of the project, which is being implemented with the support of the European Commission, through the program “Europe for Citizens”.
