The Human Rights Committee adopted a list of priority issues

The Human Rights Committee adopted a list of topics and issues related to the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights in Montenegro. Namely, it is a list that is submitted to the State party before the meeting at which the Committee formally considers the report of the state on the implementation of the Pact. The report of Montenegro will be considered at the 112th session of the Committee, which will be held in the period from 7 to 31 October 2014. Bearing in mind that this list is an important addition to the report, CEDEM and the Youth Initiative for Human Rights – a member of the Civic Alliance – submitted a list of priority issues to the Committee in January this year. Many of these issues are included in the Committee’s final list of priorities recently adopted, including recommendations on guarantees of effective remedies, prohibition of torture and protection of the rights of minority communities in Montenegro, especially the Roma and Egyptian populations and the LGBT community. The CEDEM and YIHR list of issues can be found here, as well as the List adopted by the Human Rights Committee. – List of issues of CEDEM and YIHR – List of Human Rights Committees.
