CEDEM at a conference dedicated to inclusive education
Organized by the European Roma Rights Center (ERRC), it is in Belgrade from 5-7. A regional conference on combating discrimination and segregation of Roma children in education was held in October.
In addition to CEDEM representatives Marija Vuksanović and Danijela Vujošević, the conference “Classrooms Beyond Race – Inclusive Education for Romani Children” was attended by representatives of other Montenegrin NGOs active in the field of inclusive education of Roma children, as well as a large number of representatives from the Western Balkans , Czech Republic, Turkey, Romania, Hungary, Ukraine. The conference discussed the problems faced by Roma children and their parents in preschool and school institutions, with special emphasis on the role of Roma teaching assistants as well as the manner, conditions and mechanisms of redirecting children from regular to special schools and vice versa.
