Local Development Municipal Initiatives (LDMI)

OSF logoThe concept of LDMI has been developed with the aim to encourage a sustainable social integration of Roma and Egyptian communities at the local level. LDMI entils pilot projects which are directly aimed at improving the living conditions of Roma and Egyptian, also designed to foster partnership building between municipalities, Roma communities and civic sector.

In addition, these local development projects are expected to strengthen the capacity of local actors to attract larger EU funds, as well as to better link the mechanisms of the National Roma Decade and municipal Roma inclusion action plans with the available EU funds. Local development projects will include the reconstruction of the water supply network in Roma settlements Brlja in Niksic and Talum in Berane, as well as the development of the local study on Roma housing conditions in the municipality of Herceg Novi and provision of free legal assistance to the local Roma population regarding the enforcement of tenancy rights and legalization of informal objects. The projects are implemented in partnership between CEDEM and municipalities Niksic, Bar and Herceg Novi, in cooperation with local Roma partners. The projects are supported by the Open Society Foundations from Budapest, through MtM Program (Making the Most of EU Funds for Roma).
