Human rights

Montenegro is defined by the Constitution as a civil, democratic, environmental and social justice state, based on the rule of law. Affirmation of the principle of equality before the law, as one of the fundamental postulates of the rule of law and the rule of law, is the primary task of the Department of the Rule of Law.

CEDEM is the first non-governmental organization in Montenegro to organize seminars on international and legal standards of the European Union. From 1999 until today, over 900 lawyers, judges, prosecutors and other civil servants have participated in our training programs. The Rule of Law Department prepares draft laws and proposals for amendments to the law; organizes round tables and seminars for representatives of judicial bodies; monitors court proceedings; prepares, publishes and distributes professional publications, which has the ultimate goal of promoting a responsible, professional, efficient and transparent judiciary in Montenegro.

Social inclusion

Social inclusion is a process that enables those at risk of poverty and social exclusion to have the opportunity and resources needed to participate fully in economic, social and cultural life, but also to achieve living standards and well-being that are considered acceptable in society. in which they live. Social inclusion ensures greater participation of citizens in decision-making, which affects their lives and the realization of basic rights.

In October 2011, CEDEM was selected as the National Partner of the Open Society Institute (OSI) in Budapest, for the implementation of the PGF Montenegro project, which aims to strengthen the capacity of Roma NGOs and RAE community members to write project proposals and manage project cycle, with special emphasis on projects funded by the European Union. Also, the project of inclusion of RAE population at the local level is being prepared, which will be implemented in three Montenegrin municipalities. The aim of this project is to improve the economic situation and living conditions for the target population, through active employment and improving infrastructure capacity in Roma settlements.
