The Center for Democracy and Human Rights-CEDEM sent a request to the State Election Commission for free access to information regarding the methodology according to which the SEC will control the collection of voters’ signatures in support of electoral lists that will run in the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 16.
Having in mind the legal obligation of the State Election Commission to determine the electoral list within 48 hours after its submission, the question of how the Commission will verify the signatures of voters who supported the electoral lists is justified. Although aware of the possible limitations imposed by the Law on Personal Data Protection regarding the monitoring of voter signature collection, CEDEM considers that it is necessary to protect the public interest at this time, so as not to manipulate electoral support, falsify voters’ will and ultimately misuse state funds. budget.
