CEDEM organized second panel discussion in Nikšić "Dialogue with citizens: Let's talk about the facts"

The Center for Democracy and Human Rights held the second in a series of panel discussions in the municipality of Nikšić within the project "Education and Dialogue to the EU", which was financially supported by the Ministry of Public Administration of Montenegro.

This panel discussion continued with the implementation of the “Dialogue with Citizens: Let's Talk about the Facts” activities, which seeks to contribute to the European integration process by raising awareness, understanding, and knowledge of European integration, future membership, and functioning of the EU. As the related activity was realized in Nikšić, and considering the numerous educational institutions and institutions located in this municipality, the panel discussed the negotiation chapter 26- Education and Culture. The purpose of the panel discussion was to strengthen the dialogue and cooperation of the civil sector, state bodies/institutions and citizens, which is precisely one of the goals that are to be achieved through the implementation of this project.

By organizing this panel, the positive practice of raising young people's awareness of the principle of lifelong learning and mobility promoted through the European Union program, within which Montenegrin youth have the opportunity to apply and participate, continues.

Ms. Mubera Kurpejović, Head of the Chapter 26 Task Force and Director-General of the Directorate for Higher Education at the Ministry of Education of Montenegro, referred to high school students, mentioned scholarships from United World Colleges where the scholarship does not require additional costs in terms of participation in tuition, but to cover it United World Colleges. Kurpejović added that the diploma was internationally recognized and that it provides the opportunity for further education at prestigious faculties and other educational institutions.

Ms. Nikolina Radulovic, an expert associate of the Office for International Cooperation at the University of Montenegro, pointed out that through numerous EU programs such as Tempus and Erasmus + she contributed to the internationalization of the University. She also pointed out that students currently have the opportunity to apply for 32 competitions, with 93 students and 107 teaching staff.

Ms. Ljiljana Gogic, an associate from the National Erasmus + office, said that students and teaching staff were allowed to spend part of their education and training at a foreign university, which is certainly an impetus for further study and work. She concluded her presentation by stating that all individuals participating in the exchange program are becoming more innovative and creative, finding and solving the problems that our higher education system is facing with. After the presentation, a discussion was opened where young people expressed particular interest in the countries covered by the Erasmus + program, as well as more detailed information on the benefits of this program.

The last event of the "Dialogue with Citizens: Let's Talk about the Facts" activity will be organized in Bar Municipality and will be dedicated to the negotiation chapter 29 - Customs Union.
