CEDEM organized the fourth and final training under the project "Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of the Ombudsman for Oversight of the Security Sector", supported by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Montenegro, on "Human Rights, Gender and the Security Sector", 11 and 12 July in Kolašin. The experts in the fourth training were Graziella Pavone, Expert on Human Rights, Gender Equality and Security (OSCE, Warsaw), Radmila Đakonović (Coordinator for Gender Equality at the Ministry of Defense of Montenegro) and Desanka Lopičić (Judge of the Constitutional Court of Montenegro).
On the first day of the training, the sessions were devoted to gender-based violence, their forms, grievance and gender-sensitive monitoring of detention facilities, as well as the European Court of Human Rights practices regarding discrimination against women.
During the second day, the topics of integration of gender perspectives in the oversight of the security sector by the Ombudsman were discussed, followed by the issue of gender equality in the Armed Forces of Montenegro: legislation and general representation of women, as well as guidelines and examples of good practice of the Armed Forces of Montenegro.
